243 Win at 1,000 yards

I just hauled out my old 243 in a Ruger 77. It is vintage about 1974, and I wanted to check the twist on it. Seems to be 10.5". Does that sound about right??

It was always a very good "off the rack" shooter, and now you've got me wanting to go out and stretch it's legs with some different bullets than it's ever been fed. I've honestly never put it on paper beyond 300 yds, although I've made some amazing shots on chucks and even a few deer that I would never try to repeat.

We all know that the sexy sixes that we've got these days are pretty neat, but it isn't like they blow the old 243 completely out of the water. jd

"in F Class is the 10 ring MOA or what,,are there different targets for ever distance ?? I have never shot any comp but would like to start trying my luck at something with one of these bbls instead of just burning them up off by myself,,LOL"

Yes Sir, 10 Ring is 1 minute, X ring is 1/2, the rings go up by minute from 10. Easy to adjust to.
Lots of love for the 243.

ok so the way I shot that 20 shot string would have been a 198/11-12X,,,,,

I may do another 243 using a new bbl maybe 30-32 inches and see how it does,,
