I just hauled out my old 243 in a Ruger 77. It is vintage about 1974, and I wanted to check the twist on it. Seems to be 10.5". Does that sound about right??
It was always a very good "off the rack" shooter, and now you've got me wanting to go out and stretch it's legs with some different bullets than it's ever been fed. I've honestly never put it on paper beyond 300 yds, although I've made some amazing shots on chucks and even a few deer that I would never try to repeat.
We all know that the sexy sixes that we've got these days are pretty neat, but it isn't like they blow the old 243 completely out of the water. jd
