243 Win,,105 Scenar,,RL26 load workup

Be really glad you were using a Mark V action! If you still know the "load" have someone with Quick Load program" (think that's name) input your parameters and get a pressure (PSI) check.

I for one would really like to know.

Temperature sensitivity of RL26.....anyone have any first hand input? I know they advertise it as being insensitive, but I've read two posts on other forums that say otherwise.

I gave up and went back to H4350 that has proven to me over the years that it will not cause me problems even if I am running on the edge of sanity,,

I will be putting this bbl/action in an AICS to be shot prone at steel plates,,I figure 1 inch groups at 300 yards at 3200 fps with the .532 BC 105 orange box Hunting VLD should be a killer load that will feed and function through the AI mags,,

should shoot like a 190 gr 300 Win Mag without all the recoil and cost,,

A near picture perfect call on elevation & windage. Very nice round group. You're doing everything right. Are you going to Melonite it?

mr.big what did you find out? what made you switch back to H4350 so soon with little testing?

Hunting with my 1-7 twist 6XC 115 VLD 3,100 FPS 45.5gr RL26 yesterday. first I only been able to shoot at 100 yards.I just have not been able to have the time to test it out to 1K and map the trajectory or know how tight the group holds or what it does in the temp.
meat Hunting whitetail doe. first one at 527 yards I missed her. maybe my fault. second one at 420 yards dropped in her tracks. third one at 427 yards missed her..Just so unsure of the load. not tested good enough. going back out here shortly taking the 1-8 twist 6XC with the 105 VLD. I know it's on out to 700 yards very well. If I do any missing today will be totally my fault.

I have shot it in a 7mm rem mag. from 40 degF to 70 deg F it was the same velocity..RL23 was to be dead flat temp and in my 7 mag I saw like 40 FPS from the 40 to 70 deg F swing...that is very little testing but I thought it was odd that the 26 seemed more stable than the 23..I am shooting the RL26 in my 6XC so I will get it tested thoroughly in the next few months to know if it is a good load and how temp stable it is.. I know the H4350 I have seems on the slow side and is very temp sensitive . Reason why I have tried other powders. although the H4350 has shot great groups for me I have seen 100 FPS velocity loss form 80 deg F to 30 deg F.

if I can only get 3200 from the RL26 without gettin high pressure I would just rather shoot 4350 since I use it in 3-4 more rifles,,

I have never noticed 4350 being temp sensitive,,but have gotten a few lots that were slower than others,,I now mix all my H4350 in the same jug and it runs pretty steady,,
