243 help

Hey fella's I'm new to the board and am not real familiar so when I looked around I didn't see what I was looking for so I figured I'd just straight out ask. I am just about done with a 243 project and while unfortunatly I am on a budget I don't have the means to buy up 5 or 6 different powders and work up many loads and spend countless hours at the range so if you folks would be so helpful to offer some loads that have worked for you I can narrow it down to a couple of powders and go from there. The barrel is a 27" 1-8 twist Broughton 4 groove, I was thinking the 105 A-Max, 107 SMK's or I'd like to use the 115 DTAC's. Fella's sorry if the questions seems stupid but hey if ya don't ask you'll never know right? your help would be really helpful. In advance thanks,

Kirk

In my rifle, the best accuracy with the 105 AMAX came with a stiff charge of XMR 3100. Retumbo gave a close second, but I have not had time to get back out to the range to test at further ranges. Another powder to perform very well with the heavies is H1000. FWIW, XMR 3100 is similar to H4831. I shoot Nosler brass with CCI BR2 primers. Sorted WW brass gives a close second still with BR2s for me.

The 115's may be a bit long for your chamber....depends on how it was cut.

If you want a good go to all around load stick with the 107SMK's and H4831

Hey fella's thanks! I was going to order some of the 115's just because and see if they would work or not but it would be a big plus if they do work. I heard that if you try and push the 107 SMK's above 3K they tend to come apart! any comments or real world experience with this? I have had great luck with the 168 SMK's from the 308 but this is a new world to me! little skinny very high B.C. bullets. Again thanks for the information and please feel free to offer more if you would like! I could definatly use it. Later,

Kirk
