.243 AI twist rate

Hi Bob,

You should be ok with the 12" twist with the 87gr. V-Max bullets. The only thing I can say about the 95gr. BIB is to try it and see if it will stabilize ok. If it stabilizes, you should not have any other problems with it that I would be aware of.

Cordially,
Bob Blaine

Hey Bob,
I don't know about the 87 grn. V-Max in a 1:12. I've been shooting them in a 1:10 .243 A.I. with excellent results. I just took that barrel off and put a brand new 1:12 on and am curious how you make out. Let us know.

Sadly, I like wood stocks and Sako actions, so it's likely to be a while before I'll have anything put together. I've had one barreled action in for a stock for about eight months now. Sigh. And I've got two more just waiting in the queue.

I decided to switch to an 1:11 just to be safe. Randy thought it might be enough to stabilize a 95 and I'll have a little extra margin for the 87 V-Max.
