243 Ackley 1:10 hunting bullets?

My 243Ackley is equiped with a PacNor 1:10 on a BAT action.
The rifle shot the 90 grain Scenars really well.
The pet load was just over 3400 fps

I've been drawn for Trophy Antelope and thought I'd consider this calibre for the hunt but was hoping to use a BERGER VLD product.
They don't make a 90 gr....just a 95 grain.

Question: has anyone shot 95 gr, Berger bullets in a 1:10 barrel ?
Or, should I consider a 85 gr. in another bullet brand.
The VMax isn't a hunting bullet in my mind

Thanks
AL

A friend of mine shoots 95gr Bergers out of his 1-10 6BR without any problems. You'll be pushing them way faster out of that AI than he is so I would think you would be good to go.

I never could get them to shoot the way I wanted them to out of my .243 AI, about 3/4'-1' at 100, but I don't know if that was a stabilization problem or if my rifle just didn't like them.

the 95 berger will be fine with the 1:10 barrel. For some reason the Sierra 95 will not stabilize....stick to the berger! Try a load of Hybrid 100 from Hodgen...works great from a standard 243. I think you will be impressed.

I have a .243AI 1-12 twist Hart that shoots a 85 grain Sierra Gameking to a little over 3400fps without any pressure signs at all with 45 grains of H4350.

In my rifle, it is very accurate. I've attached the Exterior ballistics table for your reading pleasure ;)

I use them in my 6mm/06 with a 26' Kreiger, and they shoot fine at 200yd. They are doing nearly 3500 though...

Don't want to hijack your thread but, I too have been searching for a hunting bullet of the 243AI 1-10 after my wife completely wiped out a 100g Sierra Gameking spitzer, varmint bullet style) on a the front shoulders of a deer last year. Anyone tried the Hornady 95 SST, Hornady 85g interbond, or Swift Scirocco 90g spitzer boat tail? I want a bonded bullet, because of last years destruction. Any ideas?

JJH,

I have used the 100 gr Nosler PAR, work very well. The Barnes XXX are good also.

Anyone have any loads worked up for a 10twist 26' with the Barnes 80 or 85g bullets? Just want a decent starting point, as my primer supply is getting low and don't want to have to tinker too much?
