Yes.....is it a factory set up? They have some unreal free- bore.( LOOOONG)

I may be way off base on this but didn’t I read somewhere that the .240 doesn’t have the typical Weatherby long free bore?

I found this from NOSLER re: 240 Weatherby and clipped it:

240 Weatherby Magnum

"As with most Weatherby Magnum’s, there are a few points to keep in mind when reloading this cartridge:
  • The chambers have “freebore,” meaning they have a longer throat. For this reason, it is generally not possible to seat a bullet close to, or in contact with the lands (rifling)."

I have a Weatherby Vanguard S2 in .240 Weatherby that I picked up for cheap a couple of years ago. This rifle does not have an unusually long freebore. 87 Vmax will reach the lands and fit in the magazine just fine. I wish that I had some good load data to share but I never could get this one to shoot consistently with anything that I've tried.

The 95 Nosler Ballistic Tips or Partitions and RL22 is a great deer load in my 240.
The Sierra 85 grain hpbt shoots well and the 80 grain Blitz will bust up a fox or large groundhog.

I just came in from the range was testing a new load for my 240 still have some vertical issues 7/8" at 200yds
The left and right was very very good all in a straight line.
I believe that if I had my target scope on this hunting rifle instead of my hunting scope I might have closed up the vertical a bit.
