240 WBY German made bolt

Hey guys, my name is Randy Wade. Years ago I bought my granddaughter a 240 German made Weatherby. She is now old enough to hunt. We went out to shoot it and the safety mechanism on it will not work on the action. So I need a bolt assembly with a working safety for a German made 240 Weatherby Mark 5. Any help will be highly appreciated.

I might be wrong but I believe the 6 lug Mk V bolt is interchangeable between German, Japanese and American manufactured rifles.

Great little round, I still shoot mine....

Have you taken it to a gunsmith that is familiar with Weatherbys?
I also have a West German made 240, back then the 240 was made on a full sized action and the bolt is basically the same size (other than bolt face) as on a 257, 270, 7mm. Picture of 240 bolt on the right and a 257 on the left. You may have to contact Weatherby.

Dip that sucker in a can of kerosene for a week, take it out and shake it a lot, blow it with an air compressor. See if it moves then.

You very likely do not need a new bolt. You need to have that disaassembled and cleaned, lubed and reassembled.

I also use kerosene or mineral spirits for old oil issues, especially on the old sewing machines I repair, but they work on anything with old gummed up oil. Usually applied with a paint brush and let it sit overnight. Then rinse and dry. Do not be tempted to use WD40 :)

If the bolt is merely dirty I first try something like Hornady One Shot cleaner. I use it on the guts of my semi-autos and my rifle bolts. Spray liberally over a towel or trash can until the drippings are clear.
