24' Up in a Tree Stand, -10F, 10 MPH Wind - Warm and Comfortable?

I bowhunted for 45 years out of hang on tree stands.. I'm now pushing 70 and have decided to no longer push my luck crawling up in trees, especially when it's cold and you're bundled up.. One slip or lose of balance and you're toast from 24'.....'

I hear ya. I wear a full body harness. I use a lineman's belt when installing ladder sections and the stand. I then install a Fallguy retractable strap, hook up and climb down and unhook. I then attach a line to the carabineer on the Fallguy retractable strap and run the strap back up into the retractor housing. I always hook up before climbing into and sitting in the stand. That being said, it helps if you can remember to put on the harness before you walk all the way to your stand and realize that you didn't put the goldang harness on. Aaarrgghh! I'm 73 and sometimes this CRS stuff sucks. But then again, in my younger more foolish days I would have climbed into the stand. Stupidity kills.
I only put up one hang-on this year. Took me almost two hours.
Used to take at most a half hour. Getting to be too much work. But. I'm not dragging a ladder stand into my stand locations on public ground.
I also popped up a new 270 ground blind. I didn't like the lack of vision from my existing pop-up blinds. This season the weather has sucked. Too warm at first and rain. From then on snow/freezing drizzle showers. Because of this, I have spent almost half my hunt time in the new ground blind. I really like it. 270 degree view through one way mesh windows. I actually I had dozed off when a young 6 pt materialized in front of me. Third time I had him in easy range. He's so dumb he needed removal from the gene pool. Besides that it had changed from Trophy season to Summer sausage season.
