CCI Stinger followed very closely by Remington 40gr hollowpoint for general plinking.

And Wolf match for accuracy work.

fed. champion at .02$ a pop. weighed a brick recently and only found .6gr variation in all 500. most cheap ammo is a gr. or more variance. segregating into .1 gr groups cuts group size in half.___treeman

If you're looking for benchrest accuracy, you really do have to try different types of ammo in your own gun.

Normally you get what you pay for. The top-end black and red box Eley EPS is really good, and the new Lapua X-ACT may be even better,in some rifles).

That said, I have an older H&R m12 that really likes Winchester Dynapoint, which is some of the cheapest ammo on the market, as sold in bulk at Wally World. Yes I'll get an unexplained flyer now and then with Dynapoint, but my average group sizes are right there with some much more expensive stuff.

Right now, for many rifles, Wolf probably leads the pack in price/performance ratio, while Lapua may be the best for uniformity and consistency -- but the X-ACT is over $20/box!

where is the best dealer or dealers for "shipped" 22lr ammo?
I can't even find a Michigan dealer who has wolf 22lr ammo.
Ammo can be eley, wolf, lapua, aguila and fiocchi.

SK standard plus and fiocchi. I have good luck ordering from Midway as well. But after the last price increase I feel Midway has gone up a little more than others.

Wolf match target for practice and wolf match extra for matches getting pretty hard to get and the prices are going through the roof

Whatever shoots best in THAT gun. I am not brand/load loyal. I typicall test a minimum of 25 different loads in any new gun/build/barrel.

That being said I usually find that any new shoot will shoot Wolf MT or ME very well. The same cannot be said for Lapua, Eley, RWS, etc, etc. Every once in a while a build will love a cheap load like CCI Sidewinder or SGB. I buy those by the case just like the expensive stuff.

Every gun has its' own preferences but my non-benchrest go-to ammo is Wolf MT / SK Standard Plus and I second Champions Shooters Suppply as my source. I have 5 CZs and they all have a very tight bore and although they shoot the wolf/SK well most shoot RWS TGT Rifle and Eley TGT Rifle better. YMMV

My Son and I have 3 CZs all 22 lr, and love them. We use all the main brands of ammo. Have the best luck with S+k standard, and Eley Club. We also have a Ruger Charger pistol that shoots the cheap Eley Sport GREAT at 50 yrds.. So in short get out the credit card and start buying ammo.lol. The best thing we can do in the gun world is teach a kid to shot, pass it on...
