Long range 22LR Ammo question

I currently only shoot out to 150 yds but would like to see if I could accurately shoot .22's out to 400 yds or more. My rifles are Anschutz MS-64. BSA Olympic, REM 540, 540x, and 40x.

Have accurately shot my Vudoo to 550 yards so with a good rifle and ammo it can be done. Wind is the biggest issue at those ranges.

When I was a kid and hunting squirrels with an open sighted 22 I thought I needed stingers for them. Wow, they were inaccurate! Probably the least accurate 22 ammo I’ve ever shot. As others have said, I would sell them and buy something like CCI Standard. People are always looking for Stingers because of their high velocity so it should be easy to sell or trade them.

As far as rifles are concerned, don’t go cheap. You’ll shoot thousands of rounds through it so get something decent. About 20 years ago I decided I wanted a nice 22 and settled on a Kimber 22 HS after I found one on the shelf about an hour from me. My buddies thought I was nuts spending $850 on a 22 rimfire rifle. The same guys that will spend the same amount on a deer rifle that they’ll shoot 10 times a year. It’s my favorite and most fired gun I have in my safe. CZ’s are good too, I have a 452 in 17 M2. Get some different ammo, a decent rifle and you won’t regret it.

I was watching Aussi YouTubers Mark and Sam after work shooting a 6” steel at 416yds and a 12” at 601 yds with CCI Velocitor in some pretty high winds. I bought a brick and shot it from 3 of my favorite long range rifles a 25” Lilja, 26” Shilen Ratchet, and 25” Mullerworks 8mi 13t. All 3 were no bueno. The ES and SD numbers were so bad I couldn’t get a 12” tall group at 310 yds. Windage was good but the high and low shots were awful especially when compared to subsonic match ammo like Lapua LR/ Super Long Range.

Those Stingers beat the crap out of most semi-autos. They also can be dangerous to shoot in match chambers, so I'd not want to go there either. I'd probably opt for something along the lines of a Savage bolt gun. And I'd call Savage and ask them about using that ammo first. No way would I spend big bucks on a rifle just for that particular ammo. Those bullets would be good for small critters out to 125-150 yards if they would shoot accurately in whatever rifle you do get. It might be possible to have a gunsmith (or yourself, if handy) extend the chamber a tad on a rifle to suit it to the ammo, if needed on your rifle choice.
