.22lr pistols

I just bought https://www.keltecweapons.com/firearms/pistols/p17/
For a fun gun. Paid about $60 premium for it because I just wanted one for a beater/plinker. Threaded, reliable, comes with 3 mags, and I can shoot it pretty good - plus 17 round capacity. Very cheaply made thoug, cheaper than any other gun I ever saw. But will be perfect for my use. Should settle at $169 or so when they reallly get in the market.

What about the new glock .22LR?? Anyone have experience with those? Could be an option.

I was on this boat... but when they came out they got lots of bad reviews. Everyone made them out to be junk. I heard glock changed some stuff... not sure if the newer ones are better now... Id buy it if all the quirks are out of them now..

I wouldn't claim it the "best" but my SW Victory 22 is an incredible value. For the price point, it's way better than it has a right to be. There's a ton of great upgrades out there from Tandemkross and Volquartsen too.
+1 on the S&W Victory

I'll chime in. I have had several 22 auto's. SIG Mosquito = POS. Old High Standard. Great pistol not too accurate. Never jams. Glock 22, OK, for what it is..
Browning Buckmark in stainless. The Timex of rimfire auto pistols. Never jams, just takes a lickin and keeps on tickin. Once in a while I'll clean it but it gets abused and doesn't complain. AND it is deadly accurate. I literally shoot the sh*t out of it. It's always with me.

The new Rugers come apart easily with the push of one button. I guess the older ones were a pain to take apart.

I never had a problem.

You just had to make sure the hammer strut went into the mainspring housing when reassembling. Aside from that, it was no worse than any other pistol. Well, okay, maybe prying out the release lever was a pain, but that was it.

Both my older brothers have ruger mark twos ones a 5 and a 1/2 inch bull barrel that's been magnaported the other is a 6 and a 1/2 I believe magna ported very nice guns and shoot very well but the reason I chose the Browning buck mark is the ergonomics of the handle and slide relationship it seems like there's way less barrel whip with the Browning over the ruger and the accuracy is spot on

In my opinion a Buckmark is the best buy accuracy and quality, Especially the Target Buckmark Plus UDX version. But the nicest is the S&W Mod 41.

Can't beat the model 41.

I need to buy another 22lr pistol, but not sure what to look at to cover all my basis...

Requirement is threaded barrel for suppessor...

Ive had a threaded Ruger 22/45, it was ok. I shot it out to the point I need to sent it back to ruger to be rebuilt. It was far from flawless, always jammed.

I shot alot of rugers, this ones been the worst.

Anything on the market better than a Ruger? Im not savy as to what semi autos are out there that are threaded or can be upraded to be a heck of a pistol...
Smith & Wesson victory with vortex red dot works for me , traded mymk1 Ruger.

Had Ruger Mk 2, 3 and now MK IV. A really good trigger. Maybe better than ever. Accurate. Wish I'd not sold the earlier versions. But well. I shoot CCI and they shoot well. Always have. pic was for my son who sends me BRCC - silencer smooth pictured here:). I don't normally lay a pistol on a bag of coffee.

I freely admit to being a Ruger MKII junkie. Currently run 6 MKII's, mostly 5 1/2" bull bbls. With the exception of a 6 7/8 Goverment model I picked up used (wound up having a bent recoil spring from the prior owner) they just never quit running. I've run 5-10,000 rds a year for over 22 years through them without any issues. EVERY ONE WILL HOLD 1 1/2" groups or better with CCI SV at 50 yds from my Ransom rest, better with Lapua MIdas or Eley Tenex. I've never had to replace a firing pin or extractor in any of them. With just a little practice the reassembly is very easy. Like anything, if it's the first time or two-it's tricky. Just practice a few times. Rocket science it ain't.

If I had to grab one 22 pistol and have to count on it's reliability, it would be the MKII. I can't speak for the MKIII & MK4 as I've never used or even tried them.

While I'm currently running a couple Nelson conversions for Bullseye (trying for a bit of continuity with the same frame as my 45's), I've got more time behind the MKII's than anything. That includes the Buckmark, several Hi Standard Citations, a few Marvel conversions & Walther GSP. Even tried a shooting buddies M41, just didn't care for it. The Walther had the nicest trigger over everything else I've shot, I just didn't shoot it as well. In fact I shot everything else better. By far, the most trouble I had with anything was with the 3 Marvel unit 1's I had.

I have an original Ruger MKII 6-7/8” Government Model, a MKIII 5-1/2”, both bull barrels. Both are, and have always been, dead reliable. I also have a Smith M41 and a High Standard Supermatic Trophy, both 7”, or 7-1/2”, id have to look to be sure. I had heard of feeding issues with both, but mine have always run super well. 22s are filthy to shoot and need to be regularly maintained, cleaned, and lubed. I have seen folks fight issues with any and all of the makes and models listed, but all 4 of mine never failed as long as I took proper care of them.

Im a ruger 22 pistol fan. Yall wont have to worry about me hoarding the buckmarks. I love the competition models but shoot the 22/45 mk3 with the short bull barrel the most of all the rugers. Installed a disconnect for the mag safety and its as reliable as any of em now
