22LR coned breach

Here is the Vudoo barrel tenon (early gen 1). I supplied an arbor and slotting cutter for the extractor grooves and cut them on a mill drill after indexing the barrel, it was a bit of a pain in the ass. I will probably play around with a coned breech some day.84D8AD42-7428-4AE0-808A-7C5B0DBE0BB6.png

Thank you very much! I'm pretty fair with the centerfire stuff..... still learning but the rimfire stuff I've gotten interested in trying to figure out. Thank you for your time to post this!

Does anyone know what his best kept secret bedding compound was?
I know that Howard Pitts does a two step bedding process like Bill did.. but he didn't say what he was using.. neither did Bill.. i believe it was some kind of compound that was used in the aerospace program..

I had read in an interview with Mr. Meyers that he was using a "resilient adhesive" used in the aircraft industry but would not name the manufacture or product name. My first thought was Devcon Flexthane . Speculation on my part was the resilient property was intended to deaden vibration.

Bugman is correct. A coned breech can cause issues if the owner isn’t truly careful. Cutting extractors isn’t a big deal if you have the proper set up. I’ve done both many times and on my personal rifles I always cut slots.

I have it written down somewhere, he showed me the stuff many years ago during a visit. I wasn't convinced it would really make a difference so I never sourced any and have forgotten what it was. I was sworn to secrecy anyway ;)

Bill was a crafty guy, he had all kinds of cool stuff he dream't up and made in his shop. I have pictures of his neck turning tool. I'll build one someday just because. I'll always remember the man, he freely showed me tons of stuff and shared so much in such a short visit. I have his Rockwell lathe in my shop to remind me of him :)

You know, I really like a good Rockwell lathe for a home gunsmith lathe.

It's certainly a great gunsmith lathe. I enjoy using it and it has history in it. Bill's wife (Inez???) said to me as I was loading it "That lathe helped make a lot of hall of fame points" or something to that effect. :)

To keep this on topic here's an article that shows his cone breech using an endmill as a lathe tool. I was fortunate to see several renditions of his indexable actions he had built.
