22br sizing

Never tried it but I think a 6br die with the proper bushing would work. I had dies made when I had the barrel done.

Can you size 22br brass by using a 6br neck sizing dies?

Maybe. If the bushing will go to the bottom of the neck it may work. Mine will not. At some point you will probably need a .22BR full length die as I did. A .22BR bullet seating die is perfect for an intermediate die for sizing the cases down if you have trouble doing it in one shot. Happy to help as this is my favorite cartridge. Good luck and happy shooting!

A body die will work to get rid of the majority of what a bushing doesn’t.
I would advise to polish the top and bottom of where the neck goes through the body die. Last couple I bought had burrs that did the neck no favors.

The Redding 6BR bushing die I had, would not size the neck to the shoulder. I machined/lowered the shelf where the bushing sits to solve that issue. IIRC, there are other threads that address the OP's question.

Thanks so much for the info Paul. This is my first attempt at a 22br. So I might hit you up for some more info. I was thinking about a L E Wilson dies for sizing the brass. What do you recommend or prefer.

Gander, I have Wilson Inline dies(arbor press required) for my .22BR and also a Redding Body die. My favorite combination of dies and very reasonably priced. Also the Redding Body die (which has a slightly oversize neck diameter) will also work as an intermediate die for sizing cases! A win win in my book! You will most likely still need a FL die to make the cases for the very first time. Sorry, wish I had a better answer. Not sure if a Redding neck sizing bushing die will size all of the neck? Hopefully another .22BR fan will chime in about the Redding Bushing die. As you probably know Wilson inline dies require an arbor press and only size half of the necks. I have no experience with the newer threaded dies by Wilson, as they were not available at the time. Sorry. Happy to help if I can.

Use the Wilson 6br die with a 250 to 252 bushing and use an expander decapper for 22 the first time. Pull the handle twice.

Best I have found is using a cheap Redding FLS die and use a few extra sprays of alcohol/lanolin case lube and pull handle and spin 180 pull handle again, just did 200 pieces last night without losing one case. After initial sizing I use a Forester honed to max neck diameter as the Redding is ridiculously oversized at neck.

I've used the Wilson threaded dies with my 6BRX with great success. I know this will be a learn as you go build. I was just trying to streamline the learning process a little. So thanks for your info. As I've gotten older I've become a better listener.

Not sure if you are using the Redding FLS die but it sizes the necks down much too far, once I ran a mandrel through them the bell completely went away

Run my 6br brass through my harrels 6br die with a 255 bushing, leaved the neck around 253 with some neck remaining unzised. I then run it through a Hornady universal 22 cal neck sizing die with the expander. That final step sizes all the neck down and expands it to 248od, loaded is 250od. These two steps have given me necked down brass with 002 or less runout at the necks. If I run a straight 6br into the Hornady die, I get the same neck dimensions, however runout is pretty bad on some cases. Not that big a deal as it all needs fireformed anyways, but this has been my experience.
