22BR neck size... saami specs

Hello, does anyone here know what the saami specs for neck size on a 22br is? Looking at having a rifle built in 22br and local smith saud his reamer is a standard saami specs. Would prefer not to turn necks but if have to i guess i will do it. If i have to go the turning route what will i need to get started? thanks

There are no SAAMI specs for any or the BR family (or PPC either).

Well that kind of thickens the plot then. I guess i will have to call him and make him actually look it up then. Thanks for the info. Any tips on turning necks?

PTG will make a remer for you if you call them. I sent a dummy round to them and mine turned out great.

When I ordered my 22BR McGowen prefit barrel for a Savage 110 it came with a .251 neck. I guess McGowen considered that as spec.

Yes I do neck turn before sizing down from 6mm to .224. but not all that much....Just a skim cleanup as the neck wall thickness on the old gold box Lapua brass is right at .0012 (12 thousands) out of the box. I would think the newer blue box stuff would be somewhat thinner yet as to what I've been reading from several on this site so it may not even need to be turned at all but would want to have a least .003 to .004 clearance when done.
Best Wishes

I turn necks on everything, once committed it`s not a big deal, you only have to do it once.

I bought a Bench rite lathe and variety of turning tools,it gives me something to do on cold winter day`s.

Either way, good luck with your decision.
