I recently sent a 700 action to Pac-Nor for a rebarrel in 22BR.
I'm building this rig for Varmints so I'd prefer to not turn necks.
I had Pac-Nor send me a drawing of their reamer so I could send it and my 22BR die to Forster to be honed to match. Steve at Forster told me that they prefered actual drawings, rather than fired cases so that's what I'm doing.
My question is,,,,,, will I still need to turn the neck and shoulder, per the article on this site reguarding the 22BR) after necking the 6BR brass down?
After doing a search, I see some say yes and some say no. Imagine that on the internet????????
P-N's drawings show their no turn 22BR neck at .254, so do you think I will get the build-up of brass at the neck/shoulder area that some talk about???
I'm sure I'll leave something out, but I'm using Lapua brass and Forster 22BR match dies.
I've never necked brass down before so any suggestions as far as lube or prep would be appreciated, as well as opinions on neck turning tools. I'm looking at the Sinclair NT-1000 tool with the expander body, if I do have to neck turn to clean up the brass.
Hope this makes sence, and naturally "Thanks In Advance".
