225 gr Accubond in 338 06

Ramshot's Big Game is worth a try. I would start around 44gr & work up.

I achieved my highest velocity with RL17. I went up to 61.3 and found acceptable accuracy. Switched to 200gr bullets with H380 after testing that combo. Extremely accurate and consistent with mag primers.

I would try H-4350. I have had great luck in mine with accuracy and velocity with 210gr bullets and 250gr Accubonds using it.

Why did you switch to the 200 gr load? Im on the fence also

I found some old 200 Nosler ballistic tips that shot half an inch with 380. It was the easy button. Federal 200gr fusion are great bullets that shot well under an inch with a POI shift that was a click or two off, or not worth changing on a rifle I don't hunt past 200 with. It's built on a Stevens action.

The only place I could find sub MOA with the 225 AB was hard on Winchester 30-06 primer pockets, I can't find my notes on velocity but primers would flatten in the 3rd shot severely. All primer types, so I was never happy with that. I was noticing most people were loading around 63gr and I couldn't get close to that with all other powders almost perfectly reflecting predicted velocity so I just wrote that bullet off for that rifle.

I have a .338-06 JDJ Encore handgun. Used it for many years with IMR 4831 with no problems.

Thanks Guys This is all good information. Am also considering 225 Maximus as supposedly less friction in the barrel and more velocity per pressure.

I had good luck with H414 with 210 Barnes or Nosler . Fun caliber.

Daddy had a Cooper he killed an elk with using the 200 Accubond and IMR 4064. It shot really well.

I use RL 15 and 225 grain partitions. Not quite 2600 fps but everything shot wit it out to 300 yards hasn’t gone more then 30 feet.
