.308 Hunting build

Im working on building a .308 hunting rifle. Going with the 168 gr Accubond LR bullets. Max COAL @ 2.959”.

I’m looking for recommendation on a reamer? Undecided on freebore.

I'm building a similar rifle on M700 action. I went with a 20" Hart with a Remington contour .750" at the muzzle. I have several customs with HS heavy contour tactical stocks, so I picked up a HS mountain rifle stock. It will likely require quite a bit of inletting to fit, but it should make a very handy and accurate hunting/pack around rifle. I plan on using the exact same bullets you chose. I'm going with a PTG 308 win match reamer with .050" leade.

For a repeater the standard SAAMI Win 308 freebore of .090" seems to be a consensus for magazine length and performance for standard weight bullets (not the 200+ grain like used in Ftr). After studying Nathan Foster's Terminal Ballistic research website and book, I suggest you consider the Amax, now ELDMatch bullet. He has shot >8500 head, and worked with many others to formulate his results and recommendations. Great book!

A seating depth test resulted in the 168 ablr @ 2.920 base to tip fits in the magazine and boat tail junction is above the shoulder in a ER shaw savage prefit barrel I am pretty sure it is a SAAMI chamber
