Anyone know about barrle life with this cartridage? I've read 1200 rounds and still going (wildcat cartridges book). Is the longer neck a plus in more barrel life, been trying to decide between 22-243 Middlested, 22-284, 22 Vias... now I find the 22-257 Improved (224 Clark) when my 22-250 throat goes I want something diffrent to chamber in.

I don't think that you mentioned anything that is known for great barrel life. The 22/257 is about the same as a 22/6mm Rem AI...a pretty stout overbore in it's own right!
Do you have a need for speed or do you want to push heavier bullets?
You can only go so far in the speed category until you reach a point of no return. Anythin mucn more than a 22-250 AI or a 220 Swift is at that point, not much return for your increased powder investment.

Are you going to put a fast twist barrel and shoot the 80-90 berger vld I think you would then get about the barrel life of a 6mmAI shooting 87-95 bergers that is my thoughts

I have a 1/7 twist 22-250 and shoot 75gr A-Max bullets for PDs. At 1000 rounds 1in 10 blew up. After 1100 rounds 1 in 5 blew up. I used to reload for a friend of mine in the mid 1970's for that caliber. Great on Coyotes but don't over shoot it.
