Those 88's need a heck of a freebore. .220-.250 from what I've read. I don't think you'll reap the bc benefit from the oal you mentioned. This to be mag fed? I know I'm not really helping you. Curiosity has gotten the best of me.

Ruger pr mag can accommodate up to about 2.60"
why would the oal effect bc?
at 2.41" oal I'm getting about 2450 fps.
22.5g of target, new Lapua , fed 205M primers.
Only loaded 3 at that charge.

Dave, I ran your speed on JBM. I will correct myself, however you will be below Mach 2.25 once the bullet leaves the barrel at 2450fps. It doesn't drop below Mach 1.2 until about 790 yards before transitioning to subsonic. Out to that distance you still get decent benefits from the bc.

so am I better off shooting say a 80g at 2747 fps if I'm going to 1000?

Also, thanks for the help by the way.
the bc is .505 on the 80G

sounds like that would be the way to go and the maximum you can get out of it. if you shoot the 80 at 1000 like to here the results

I load the 88 eld to just under 2.6.
At this length I have a lot of room for powder.
In my 26" AR15 2800+ fps is easy.
Accuracy is awesome.

Think the 80 eld is like .485 and the 75 eld is .475. Whatever the difference was the 75 would out run the 80 due to velocity potential.

I've shot them both in 600 f class. The 80 running a little slower than the 75 at the muzzle. On the electronic targets the 80 is faster at 600 than the 75, which equates to a little better bc still retained at distance. Also it's ofcourse better in the wind. Scores are better with the 80. Just adding this is my findings with my loads. They are so close that I believe the little extra bc comes in handy on wind drift.
