.224 75s at 3200fps from an 18” barrel

Do you have a specific objective other than just the velocity?

Not really, the velocity being the main deal.

I’ve found the 75 Berger around 3200fps to be a great extended range coyote bullet as well as not causing a lot of fur troubles up close.

I want to suppress the gun.

I own a 22 cal suppressor now.

I don’t want the barrel (including suppressor) to be over 26”

I use a 204 right now with the 55 at 16.5” and suppressed. It’s a great coyote rifle like this. Easy to carry and has some potential up to 400 yards.

The 75s at 3200 would give me the ability to suppress a rifle for certain situations in the 300+ yard range, be easy and compact to carry, be quiet and be capable of killing a coyote to farther than I need it to.

It's too damned cold to do anything outside and I'm feeling the itch to make some chips. It's not an 18", but I'll post up the results. Might give a bit more info to work with. I'm curious to see if it will feed through the RPR.

Just an FYI for you. I have killed quite a few coyotes over 500 yds with a .22BR with the reamer run in an extra .060. The 75 A-max was cruising along at 3075 fps from a suppressed 20" barrel. The bullet choice is much more critical than speed in my opinion. Usually leaves a nice little 1/2 inch exit hole and a perfect pelt. A .22 Dasher may be a good choice for you. Just a thought.

This has crossed my mind to.

I have a 22BR now that I use for my bedded coyote type setup. Love it but it doesn’t quite feed perfect. It’s close but the AI on the 250 has the advantage in that department in my opinion.

That Amax certainly is another good coyote bullet though.

I'm running a 20" 1-7 twist X-Caliber barrel on my 22 Creedmoor. Using necked down Starline 6mm SRP brass,I'm getting right at 3400fps shooting 75 gr A-Max bullets with H4350. I tried RL26,but didn't have good results with it.

I made a few last minute adjustments to the plan.

I said to heck with it and cut the barrel down to 18" like the last one, but I also decided to start out with a plain old 22-250 and run the chamber out to AI if it doesn't perform to my liking.

Very crappy pic of the best group at 150 yds. I didn't measure it, but it looks to be around 9/16. It shot another maybe a 1/16 bigger after I zeroed it.

Annealed and turned RP brass.

75 grain Amax.

CCI 200.

37.8 grains of H4350. This is .6 grains OVER Hornady's listed max.

If the load holds tune I'll chronograph it and post the results.

I shot the above load again this morning at -5 degrees. It showed some vertical at 150, so I bumped the charge another .2, which cleared it up.

After a careful zero check at 150yds I moved out to my 700 yd plate. It took 16 moa to get from my 150 yd zero to centered up at 700. I plugged everything into JBM and it's telling me the load is going 2975 fps.

Fired primers have about half of their original radius. Brass has been fired 3 times. Primer pockets are tight and I've been neck sizing only with no issues chambering rounds.

I'll verify dope again in the next few days and maybe set up the chronograph if the weather cooperates.
