223 - Varget vs. VV 133

Does VV 133 tend to be dirtier than Varget?

I've been shooting Varget with 55-gr. V-Maxes in my 223 with great success, great accuracy and very minimal fouling. I wanted to work up a load for 50-gr. V-Maxes. I've tried to avoid it since it's always in short supply, but VV 133 has good numbers,on paper) for the 223, so I ran through a series with it this weekend--31 shots. When I went to clean up, however, I wound up pulling out the brass brush to break up the carbon in the barrel.

Is this typical? Or could it just be that the lower pressure loads were dirty? 25 grs. seems promising, but I'd rather not mess around with it if it's going to keep fouling like this.

use h335 with a cci450 primer you will like it!!!!

I am shooting the VV133 and it burns pretty clean for me. Try going up a little in charge. Not sure, but think max is around 26.5 or so. CHECK THE BOOK and let your rifle tell you.

I'm hoping that it was just the lighter loads in the series that lead to the carbon buildup. My brother said that it burns pretty clean for him also.

At 25.9,Vihtavuori's max), I was starting to get a sticky bolt. The best load in the series was at 25 running around 3520 fps. I'll try a series with different seating depths and see what my barrel looks like after that.
