.223 Remington Bullets

i cant seem to find very many .223 caliber bullets, but i see alot of .224 cal bullets, can i shoot a .224 cal bullet out of a .223 Remington?

thanks for the help, i just wanted to make sure that was ok before i blew my self up. There is alot of really nice bullets in .224. Im thinkin ill load 80 Gr. Berger VLD's in my little .223 if you think it will work. if i got the twist that should produce good accuracy shouldnt it?

DingleBird, did you pick up the Savage 12BVSS? Nice rifle. If your question is related to this rifle, I don't think a 1-9" is going to be enough for a 80gr VLD. You may want to try 75 grain Hornady HPBT or possibly their 75gr AMAXes. Varget, N140 and RE15 are good choices for powder. For short range, the Sierra 60gr HP are great shooters.

i'm no t sure, but i think i read somewhere that all 22 cal centerfires use 22. bullets, im sure if you called any rifle or bullet mfng company, they will tell you the answer.

Hi Dinglebird,
I have a Savage Model 10, Heavy Target barrel, 26" I believe. Shoots 55 gr. Horn. V Max and 75 Gr. BTHP Match bullets
very well.

Good Shooting to you

Back in the 30's and 40's,that's the the last century, for you young kids), there were some .223" diameter barrels made... but since the 50's, ALL 22 centerfire barrels are 0.224" in diameter, and use .224 dia bullets.

That includes .218 Bee, 219 Zipper and Wasp, 220 Swift, 221 Fireball, 222 rem, 223 rem, 224 Weatherby, 225 Winchester.

Confusalating, ain't it? ;)
