There are Many options out there to try. I use Hornady 75 Amax bullets with around 24-24.4 grains of either RL15 or Vihtavuori N530. 1/8" twist works perfect. You may wany to try a Lilja 3 groove bbl. You might get a bit more velocity with the Lilja and you need every bit of velocity that you can get @ 1k with a 223. Get at least a 28" bbl. If you are concerned with weight limit, get a medium Palma contour and you will be able to go up to 32" for your F-class rifle. Although..my experience tells me that after around 29", the velocity increase with a 223 is minimal.

Good Luck,

Chris

I shoot a .223 in fullbore prone and it is more accurate than my 308 palma guns. I use 7 and 8 twist bbls with the 1-7/30" Krieger the most accurate a 1K. Try 25.xg R-15 and the 80g AMax. I can run 3100 with this bullet and it seems to use less windage than the palma bullets. Best of luck to you. -lige

I can't see how you could beat the speed of N550. I run an 80gr. berger out of a 24" Rock barrel and easily reach 3k fps. There was an article about reaching 3k fps in a service rifle in PS a couple of years ago. N550 was the winner.

A long chamber throat will be the key as you will want at least 2.5"COAL.
