223 Brass question.

Can anyone tell whether or not Sako and Norma brass in 223 is comparable to Lapua. Any information is much appreciated.

For longevity of brass I have had the best with Lapua and LC,everything else is behind those two IMO. . LC requires a bit more investment in labor but is considerably less expensive.

I'd add Winchester to the mix. For my use, the both last ~10 reloads; WW gets loose primer pockets, and LC splits necks (I don't anneal). WW has a bit more volume, so it's easier to get to max loads without compressing powder.

I'm not a fan of Winchester, at least not in .223 brass. Last couple of batches I bought (and returned) had the flash holes drilled off center. If you can afford it Lapua is number one.

I've had good batches of commercial Win 223 brass, but the military/training Win NT (non-toxic) and WCC is about on par with Federal, good for one or two moderate reloads then in the bucket, besides being of mediocre dimensional quality. Both surplus and virgin LC has been good for me, any year stamp. Virgin LC (my recent batch was 2013) at Pat's Reloading www.patsreloading.com $135/500, $250/1000. Hard to beat them prices for unprimed unfired virgin LC.
