Looking over the collection lately and I realized that I did not own a bolt .223... I visited the LGS and saw a few, but the one that caught my eye was a new RPR in 5.56. This particular rifle had been collecting dust since 2017. I picked it up and plunked a random Vortex PST 5x25-50 on it and headed to the range. Results were interesting.
I would like to go a little farther before rebarreling (thinking 22 Nosler) but the holdup, as always, is the magazine. Magazine OAL to be specific.
I can actually seat a short action AISC magazine in the rifle. Does anyone make a steel AISC magazine with an appropriate internal OAL for this rifle? I have scoured the internet and all I can locate is the Ruger and MDT magazines which are both plastic.
I would even pay for a custom magazine from a boutique manufacturer (that one guy or gal that makes `em in the garage) but I can't find any write-ups, articles, or sales for a complete AISC pattern magazine for .223 or 6.8.
Any leads are appreciated!
