223 AI dies help

I recently bought a 223 AI and needing to buy dies. I’ve seen folks recommend a 223 REM seater, a Lee collet sizer and some form of body die. If I’m fire-forming from factory ammo, what does to I need? And possibly some brand name suggestions?

I just use a cheap set of Lee dies and am getting good results. I always full length size my brass.

I bought a standard Redding FL sizer, and used my 223AI finisher reamer to ream the free machining steel sleeve of a Forster 223 Ultra Mic seater die.

Urbanrifleman, I’m looking at yours but want to make sure what I need. For those of you that full length resize, how are you handling shoulder set-back?

Not specific to the 223 AI, I use the Redding FL Type S Bushing Die and set my shoulders back .001", if that helps.

I just set the die to the bottom and resize.

If I’m fire-forming from factory ammo, what does to I need?

Provided your rifle headspace is set correctly, for factory ammo load and fire. You should be able to feel resistance when you close the bolt.

The 223 Lee Collet die will work on your formed 223AI brass to size the case neck. For any sizing and bullet seating dies, they need to be for 223AI. With the 40 degree shoulder, you will find the case resists stretching during firing.
