223 Ackley Reamer rental

I am curious to know if anyone knows a reamer house that has a reamer with the following criteria:

223AI
Short enough throat to seat a 77g Matchking to the lands at an oal of 2.28-2.30

I really don't want to buy a custom reamer if I don't need to.

I have two CZ527's that I want to re-chamber to 223AI but still want to be able to use the mag if possible. This will be my first 223AI so i don't have any fireformed brass to measure off of.

Any help is appreciated.

thanks ::) But I can find plenty of reamer rental houses. It the particulars on the reamer i need to know.

I more need to know my freebore length so i can hit the lands without exceeding my mag.

With the .223 that I shoot that bullet in the OAL is 2.570" touching the lands, over a quarter inch longer than your mag length. The 77 SMK is a long bullet (0.540") so to get to 2.300" you'll have a lot of bullet down in the case. But, guys with AR's shoot them from a mag at around 2.250" so it can be done.

If you have a great deal of faith in your gunsmith you should be able to find a 223 AI reamer with no throat and have him use a throating reamer to meet your specifications.

Thanks for the heads up. The reason I am considering the AI chamber is because i know the bullets are going to be seated pretty deep. Given your info, i guess I will have to go with a zero feebore reamer, and then throat ream. Not my preferred angle of attack, but doable.

I actually will end up doing the chambering myself (went to school for 'smithing), I have done quite a few barrels/action but have never had to throat ream one in, just used precut chamber reamers with the freebore included. looks like i am just going to have to order a zero freebore reamer.

Thanks for the info Dave Berg!
