.223 accuracy

What is a realistic accuracy one can expect for a bolt action rifle assembled with top of the line components(custom barrel, action,tight neck, etc...) for five 5 shots groups? My groups with my PPC are in the .15 to .25 , so how much these groups will grow due to the caliber, who in theory have less accuracy potential?
Someone who already made this test care to share...

Well, now that I FINNALLY got all the bugs worked out, with 55gr Nbt's Ive shot a best 5 shot group of .565" @ 300 and in the 1's and 2's @ 100. Its a factory Howa that I added a Knoxx v/s aluminum stock. Its been trued, bushed and braked, the rings have been aligned and lapped as well. Heres my load:

Fl sized lapua brass
24.0/25.0gr AA2230
Rem 7.5
.020" jump

I used to hate the .223, not sure why, I just did. But now I love it!! My next build will be a 7 or 8 twist to shoot the 75's or 80s and probably an AI as well.

WOW vmaxpro

This is sure a fine shooting. Tha barrel is factory or custom?

I asked this question because I have one bolt action on order with the gunsmith, but aint sure what can be expected, as I never shot one custom .223 rifle. Even tought I have a custom and semi custom in others calibers, I really enjoy this small cartdrige.

I've shot in the .2s with my 223ai at 100 yards with a 1 in 9 twist pushing the 75 grain amax and I've also shot it out to 905 and 880 on a 8 inch gong with ease other than reading the wind id just dail the scope and pull the trigger.

If I can shot groups like these with my rifle, I will be more than happy. The rifle will have a 1/9 tw HV Krieger barrel, Borden action,A3 stock and Jewell trigger. I will shot 69 to 75 grains bullets out to 300 yards max;;

This barrel has been QPQ'd and has less than 100 rounds through it. The 3 shot 100 yard was to zero, and the two lower groups were at 300+ yards.

I can't claim this normal for me ;), but this from a virtually out the box Savage 110FP (there has been some slight bedding work around the recoil lug), using the old style heavy trigger.

I recently took delivery of my Surgeon actioned .223AI.It has a 1 in 8 twist Bartlein tube in an HS precision stock. I put a 69 gn smk on top of 26 gn of varget in new lake city brass just to fire form. To my surprise it puts this load into the midd twos. I can't wait to work up a load for this rig. Good shooting bubba
