222s, show yours

Love that rifle, absolutely beautiful! I have one in 223 but would trade it in a heartbeat for a triple deuce.
About 5 years ago I sold this rifle to my gunsmith/friend. I begged him to sell it back to me. A short while back I bought a Sako HB in 222 and he wanted it so I ended up selling it to him. A couple week later he said he had no use for two 222's and was going to sell the Remington. It cost me more than what I had originally sold it for but I did get it back. He said in the 5 years he had it he put 20 rounds through it. Its mint, looks like it was made yesterday. Totally 100% untouched from the Remington plant. Not a scratch or ding and the blueing is perfect. This one will never leave me again.

.222 Rem is a Gem of a cartridge.

A few years ago I bought this 1958 Sako L46 (.222) for a great price with the sole purpose of obtaining an additional “elusive” L46 magazine for my Deluxe L46. At the time the magazines were approaching $200 so what’s a few hundred more for a rifle…. The original owner was deceased and the son (+60 year old) was selling his father’s old rifle which had been long forgotten in the corner of a closet. Judging by the accumulation of dust/smutz this rifle had been sitting in closet for decades. It is a sleeper with a plain wood stock with a beaver tail forearm and fitted with an early Shilen stainless match barrel. His dad called it “Bread & Butter”, because with it he always won shooting competitions. I put an older Leupold target scope (36x) on top. After the 1st range trip it got moved over from parts gun to Keeper. It’s a tack driver.

Heres five of my 222s. When I was young my Uncle had a Sako Vixen and once and a while he would let me and my cousins handle it. It sat in one of those gun cabinets that looked more like furniture with glass doors. He had some other rifles but that 222 always centered my attention. I think it was because of how small the action and forend was and for some of the shots he made with that rifle. I spent much of days when I was teenager reading every hunting magazine and firearms magazine I could. I won Grand Champion at the country Fair with my 4-H steer when I was in the eighth grade and bought the ADL you see at the bottom. I guess I’ve always loved 222s, accurate, no recoil and just plain cool. Got one? Share a pic, I’d love to see what’s out there.

Remington BDL from the 60s
Remington ADL from the 60s, it rode in every truck I’ve had since I could drive.
Five beautiful rifles. Wish I had a clone of the BDL.
