I am pretty excited. Went to a gun auction last week that had a few Winchesters listed. Got their and started looking them over never to guess one was a Winchester model 70 heavy varmint in 222. So I have to wait for a hour and half impatiently waiting thinking man I am pry going to have to bid high on it as they also had online bidding. Finally it came to the heavy varmint gun to no one else bid against me. can't wait for nice weather to start working up a good load for it. Planning on shooting either 50gr vamx or 52gr Berger fb varmint with blc-2 powder.

I CANT SPEAK FOR BL-C2 BUT IN MY 222 HERES WHAT THEY LOVE 22.2GRS H-322 AND A 205M PRIMER AND A 52 GR BERGER FB HP MAKES SOME PRETTY BUGHOLES FORSURE NICE RIFLE AND GOOD LUCK

Back in the days, when the duece was king of BR, the powder was BL-C2, 4198 or RL-7. With 52 gr bullets. Today I might start with some LT-30 or LT-32

Score! I have the same rifle, extremely accurate, not picky either.

Many years ago I had a couple of.222's. They did very well with IMR 4198 and 50 gr Nosler and Remington BR primers. Have been thinking about getting another one again. Great accuracy,no recoil to speak of, small powder charges, splatt factor at the ranges I got to use it at was nice too. Only thing was the bullet drift in the wind, It sucked, the rest was great though.

A 788 Remington I had in 222 loved 335 and 50 gr sxsp Hornady. It was a great coyote gun. Didn't worry about beating it up and was quiet. Also shot better than you'd believe. Wish I still had it!

One of the greatest cartridges ever. I shot one for many years and took a bunch of ghogs and predators with it. When I finally shot the barrel out I rebarreled to a 223 Rem only because I was consolidating my calibers I shoot and load for.

IMR 4198 with 50 grain bullets and Rem 7 1/2 primers should shoot in the 1/2 to sub 1/2 moa range.

With all the hype on ultra velocity cartridges these day the old 222 will holds it own out to 250 yards or so with the added advantage of long barrel life. A varmint / predator hunter doesn't give up much with a 222 if he can do his part.

I just picked up a Sako L461,222 Rem,have not shot it yet, sporter model. Catman

I just received a box of Lapua brass tonight. Can't wait to get on some ground ground hogs with it.

Hi .. l am new here. But not to Win 70 HV or the 222Rem. My first PD hunt/shoot

to Texas in the early 90s l took a Win 670 in 222Rem a Win 70 HV in 243Win. The

222 got shot lots more than the 243 on that first outing... Fast forward a few yrs.

222Rem is my favorite PD ctg. Best bullet/powder combo for me is 40gr VMAX &

AA2230.. THis combo is great from a Cooper Varminter.. 670 went down the road

but 243 Win M70 HV is still hanging around here

Nothing is more accurate in my 222 than H322 and 50 grain v-max. Borden action and Bartlein barrel.
