.222 with 50 grain bullets

I've had great results with 22 grains of H322 with a remington 7.5 primer, Ballistic tips. My little 700 custom with a 24 inch barrel loves them.

I'm happy with 19.8gr H4198 atop a nosler 50gr Ballistic tip. R 7-1/2 primer and 2.130" COL, but can be improved if you want to work further.

What velocity are you guys achieving with this powder/bullets?

Ahh, I knew you'd ask this question... It depends on barrel length, etc so my data isn't going to help you, my barrel is 22". I believe it was originally designed around 3200fps from 24" barrel.

Hard to beat H4198 in 222 Rem. But CFE 223 comes in tops for velocity, as it does with most bullet weights in most cartridges it is suited for. And it has a reputation for excellent accuracy as well. I like it very much in 223 Rem behind 50-gr TNT, and it certainly does eliminate copper buildup. I don't think it's particularly insensitive to temperature, however, if that's important to you.

I just worked up a good load in a Sako Vixen with IMR 4895 and a 52 Berger. Most accurate combo / load so far for this rifle.

Rifles "Varmint Rifles and Cartridges, 2015 wolf Publishing lists several loads with IMR 8208 XBR and LT 32.

XBR 22.5 gets 3046 fps and 23.5 max gives 3114 with 50 grain bullet

LT 32 22.5 is 3216 and max load of 23.5 gets 3353 (that is HOT and fast)

All loads above with 50 grain Berger. Caution noted on the LT32 is not to exceed that max load!

50 Vmax (MOLY) and same powders go down .5 grain on both min and max loads...Vmax produced more pressure.

A 40 grain Berger FBHP and LT32 got 3700 FPS!!!! 24 grains listed as MAX with Do NOT exceed listed next to it.

A 40 grain Vmax MOLY allowed for same loads, slight decrease in velocity. A NAKED bullet would rquire lowering the load. See 50 Grain data for example.
