Howdy !

Great shooting’ ! I especially enjoyed seeing the “ 12 shot “ group.

Reminds strongly of a Fred Sinclair rifle from the -70’s.

My best friend used to campaign a .222-35*, built on a 40X.

Keep up the good work !

With regards,

My 223x35 shoulder is the middle case , std 222 on the left , and std 223 on the right . I wanted a little longer neck a 35 deg shoulder and that give me a little more case volume . The new barrel is a std 222 didn't want to buy another reamer and don't have the old reamer .

Very very cool. Love it

My 222 shoots pretty good but aView attachment 1625604lways want it to do better .
Nice shooting, the mighty 222 is just too much fun. We get spoiled with how easy it is to get them to shoot, nothing wrong with striving for more either.

It’s always been one of my favorite cartridges, I like the old vintage stuff like the Sakos, Annies and such. I have a couple customs that shoot great, I also have Tikka master sporter that came from the factory in 222 that shoots the best, including my customs. Neat cartridge!

Started short range BR in 1959 with a used Remington 40-XBBR in 222 the principal cartridge at that time. Loved it then as easy to load for and easy to shoot due to low recoil and noise. I still have a 222 now 66 years later this one is a CZ 527 with single set trigger and a Weaver T36 scope. Shoots as good as my trainer did.

I have a 40XBR action that had been blueprinted by a gentleman from the hills of NC, Mr. Joines and a beautiful figured piece of walnut done up in a 40X stock. I am going to have it barreled in a 222. It will be my nostalgia rifle. Just need to get me a barrel, not sure which one, Hart, Krieger, Bartlein, Brux or any other recommended barrels in a 14 twist.

I would go with Hart or Brux I have both and like both .

Thank you. I will do a 24" LV barrel I think, maybe a HV.
My barrel is a light varmint . If I had it to do over I would go 1.250 stright no tapper . I'll never carry this gun around out in the field anyway . And if I was ever to varmint hunt with it , I'd shoot of my truck . I have other guns lighter to carry around .

New to me a Remington 40xbr in 222. Shooting factory Lapua at this time just starting to reload this round. Going to be used UBR factory class. So far a fun rig to shoot

It took me a long time to try one, even after so many in my youth told me how great a cartridge it it was, and still is! But I will never be without at least one after finally trying it. The 222 was such an opener that today 2 years later, I tried a 6x45,,, another great cartridge we hear nothing about today, but a real eye opener.

That wasn't enough I now have a 222x35 sitting in the safe, It fits a the 6x45 Mohawk. I just cant get over how chasing that over rated speed, cost me by not taking advantages of these cartridges! These might not be the fastest shooting cartridges, But you'll have to look awful hard to find anything less picky than they are for top accuracy. The benefit is, they are very cheap to shoot.

I've seen how today most cartridges the majority jump on, are just fads! These old cartridges were designed as fads, they are true CLASSICS! To be a classic, they have to be special, and trust me they are, unlike most new cartridges we see being so popular in the past 30 or so years!

I really like that case!. Is that a 222 blown forward or a 223 pushed back?
Custom dies I assume.

Yours is very nice shooting indeed, Nice Rig man
Is that an XP-100 with a Model 7 bolt?
I have one 222 in Rem 788 that still amazes me how well it shoots
For how old it is, pitted barrel etc
I use 748 powder, shoots good in most any 224 cal
Have you tried 748?
Recently I found 2520 produces 1 hole groups for me with my 22 Br
(.136")
Using 55 gr Nosler Varmint bullets
I do like those 52 Bergers though!
I was using SRB-118 but my cache is almost depleted of a non acquireable powder so had to find another that works the same
You might try AA 2520 also just for comparison since it is close to speed with 748

Kreigers have never failed me, phenomenal accuracy and nice straight barrels
Having the mind to not fix what is not broken I never had the need to use a Bartlein but I know they are equal
until recently I built a 284 Win with a Carbon Wrapped Bartlein
(Kreiger doesnt offer this and I only use cut rifled barrels)
I was amazed when I measured and spec'd the barrel out and found the OD was within .0003" concentricity to the bore
Within 3 ten thou!
meaning a guy could actually indicate off the OD if he wanted instead of dialing in off the bore
(Not standard practice since many barrels can be off by say 10 thou concentricity bore to OD
But it was like Bartlein contoured the OD between centers and held less than .0005" tolerance
So yeah, I would not hesitate to use Bartlein neither just for their excellent tolerances
Bartlein accuracy vs Kreiger is up in the air for me.
Not a one holer but not bad Bartlein accuracy for a light hunting rifle testing 3 different seating depths.
