222 load help

I have an old school BR rifle I bought from an estate, it's a sleeved 40x action 222 . I got 50 handloads with data , and a date of load written on the sheet of 5/81 . These 34 year old loads are grouping in the 0's . The powder is reloader 11 . My question is what do I replace that with since its not available ?
Thanks, Chris

The 222 is certainly not a finicky cartridge to load for. A quality 50 or 52 grain match bullet coupled with a number of powders should have you smiling. Would suggest you also consider trying H322. In my experience the 222 performs best with near max powder loads. As with all loads work up to the max safely.

h4198, 2015, running on the warm side with 5-/53gr pills jump .020

I have had a number of them, all will shoot - these were my favorite

You have a good problem. Seems like a good 222 will shoot almost anything well. I used RL 7 and I 4895 in competition with excellent results. You have received several other suggestions and I suspect most, if not all, will work well.

I have great groups with H322, but my velocities with a 20 inch BR barrel is LOW...only 2750.

Perfect for teaching my daughter and for groundhogs to 300, but not up to the potential of the 222. I am looking for some LT powder, or will break into my 4198

I have a Marlin 322 in ,222, it does very well with 22.5 grs of 8208XBR & Sierra 50 gr PSP FB. That 40X sounds interesting.

I BELEIVE MY 40X 222 IS THE MOST ACCURATE RIFLE I HAVE 52GR BERGERS H-322 IN IT ALSO!!!!!!!!!!! THIS THING SHOOTS WITH ANY 4 OF MY BR'S TOO 300YDS

My .222 is an old "off the shelf" 700 ADL, 70's vintage. It has ushered thousands of ground squirrels to the great beyond, and the barrel feels like sandpaper for three inches past the throat when I push a brush through it.

I mostly shoot V-max 40's, or 35's if I can find them on top of BLC-2 or H-335. The old girl will still pop off .5" groups with a barrel that most of ya would consider over the hill.

Nice JD !!

My Hart with target bullets hardly does better...but then I am not the greatest shot either!

Also a 70's sleeved Rem with a Hart barrel & a SHBF. (.222)
21.8gr 4198 with 52gr SMK. Lots of trials in the early years and it still comes back to that load.
