222 lapua brass necks?

Anyone bought 222 brass recently? Im wounder how thicks the necks are or more so what diameter loaded necks are running? thanks

I just got some from Sinclair's recently & loaded round necks are running around .250. FD's results were quite different, so ??? My Rem, Win, Fed all seems to run in that .247-.248 range. I actually bought the Lapua for the thicker necks to shoot in a SAAMI chambered rifle w/.255 neck.

Yup! Just re-checked the dimensions, and that's what they are. Cannot find a lot# anywhere on the box, but they were bought about 2 1/2 years ago, just before Lapua stopped the production of 222 Rem. brass. Wonder if they changed the dimensions when production resumed?

Checked neck wall thickness of Lapua 222 Rem. match brass product designation 4PH5002 lot P00418501. It averaged .0130" and thus will load out at approx .250. This brass which I understand Lapua manufactures internally has match marked on the case head. My previous Lapua 222 brass that I understand they outsourced does not have match marked on the case head. The neck wall thickness of this earlier brass is approx .001 less.

John: The brass that measures .011" to .0115" does not have "match" on the case head. I did not realize Lapua outsourced the older 222 brass. I learn something new everyday.

My 222 Lapua is the Match version. Don't know about the 222, but they definitely outsourced 223 years ago. The stuff I had looked like Winchester - and acted like Winchester, too. The 222, 223 and 20 Tac I have gotten recently is the sho nuf stuff, and it is tough like the other match brass.

It has been posted many times in the last 3 years here on this forum that .222 Lapua was outsourced up to about 2 years ago. Lapua then, for a time decided not to market .222 brass to the U.S. Less than one year ago Lapua again started importing .222 brass, and this new brass is typical Lapua quality. The previous manufacture was poor.... to say the least.....whether it truly was outsourced it makes no difference to me, but it was a waste of my $ and time as it was problematic when using it in my HV bench gun.
