.221 Fireball ammo cost

Looking on midway at some ammo and found one box of 221fb $42 dollers for box of 20.Thats $2.10 a round for 221 fire ball ,is this what we got to look forward to.???

All the ammo hoarders are to blame. Supply would keep up with normal demand. I’m amazed that there is no ammo around, and yet I’m not seeing people at our indoor range shooting any of it.

That's crazy pricing. I sold my 700 a while back and have my dies listed here, but I shot some TINY groups with 25 cent reloads using bulk 50gr zmax bullets. Never shot a factory rd out of it. Fun little round.

I knew there was ammo for the 221FB, it has never been plentiful or cheap. That price doesn’t look out of line for MSRP.
Nosler list it out of stock for $37 per 20. Add ??% increase after first of year, nope I don’t see it out of line.

Just looked on precision Reloading and they had same thing for $26 a box....That sounds more like it.....I really dont have to have it but thought I might get some just to make some fire formed brass with lol...If its still there lol....Btw Im not affiliated with either company and have done my share of business with both....

I'm wondering if the ammo and component prices are at such a ridiculous level now, what will it be like in another year when Joebama and Kamaho have had their way with us. "Fearful" is a word that comes to mind.

As for the 221FB, I've been a fan of it for ground squirrel and PD shooting since 1980 when I built my first Sako L461 221FB. The little caliber has all the attributes I want in a rat rifle, and none of the negatives. It's no slouch in the accuracy Dept. either.....as illustrated with my Cooper M38 Phoenix in 221FB:

For a day in the rat patch, nothing beats the little Furball in terms of minimal muzzle blast, no recoil, cheap to load for, and that wicked accuracy......oh the accuracy! The rats here hate mine! :)

Sportsmans as well as a local farm store here has 221fb listed at 24 per bx, sits on the shelf for a while also, but does get bought.

Loads .221 Fireball loaded ammo. Several different bullet options. I bought some once when brass was hard to find. Can't remember the price, but think it was less than the Remington stuff.

Bug holes from an Remington XP 100 in .221 Fireball with a 10" barrel? PRICELESS!!
As far as ammo price? How bad do you want/need it?

Be glad you aren't shooting a 338 Lapua or 50BMG... I bet that has to be headed toward $10-$15 a shot.

Feeling really good loading micro calibers.

Glad I reload. FB is fairly easy and inexpensive to handload. Brass can sometimes be a challenge to find and can be a little spendy, but case life is good.

Before the Pandemic, I walked into a local small gun shop and they had 10 boxes of Remington .221 Fireball on the "Sale" Shelf. They said they had no call for it and never knew why they had stocked it. Bought all 10 for $110.00. Figured the brass was worth that.
