220 swift powders

I load h380 in my 2 swifts, they just don't get shot much anymore, because I have other choices.

Id overflow a tandem dump truck with the critters that have fell to a 55gr Sierra spitzer over 38grs of IMR 4064 out of my swifts. I’d have to say anything pushing 4000ft per second is probably rough on barrels no matter what powder is used. My dad used to say pertaining to barrels “They make them everyday”

I've had very good luck with IMR3031, H4895, & RL15 a bit under max, with flat base 50s, 52s, & 53s in a 14 twist Swift.

I just had a 7 twist installed for 88gr ELD M bullets. They shot great, but I ended up going back to the 75gr ELD M. IF I were to do it again, I would go with a 8 twist.

I’ve never been able to bring myself to barrel a swift in a fast twist. Although I probably should. There’s just something about those thin jacket 50, 52, 53 and 55gr bullets at that velocity that just ends whatever critter you aim it at.

Been using H414 and Winchester LR mag primers for decades with 55 grain blitzkings, ballistic tips and 60 grain partitions. All factory rifles. That 60 grain partition is impressive on deer.

I think Nosler listed IMR 4831 as the fastest and most accurate powder in one or two of their manuals with the 55 grain bullets.
I’ve been wanting to try Staball 6.5 in my Swift.

This. I like IMR 4831 with the 52-55 grainers & its an older slow twist barrel

40 grains H380, 55 grain Vmax. FGM primer. Easy on barrels, long brass life, 3600-3700 depending on barrel length and temps.
