220 Swift magazine fit

I have a Remington 700 in a 220 Swift caliber. I had CDI Precision Gunworks put a new magwell in. I have AI magazines and they do not seem to work very well. Do other magazines work better in this instance? It seem like the case hooks behind the metal in the magazine. When you chamber the case, it pushes the bullet up as it enters the throat.

Mitch,

I’m very curious...is this a long action or short action? Do you have the opportunity to try a Magpul AICS magazine?

I have a long action 700 that is current with Dan Dowling getting a Swift barrel chambered. I have considered replacing the BDL metal with bottom metal similar to CDI if I cannot get the Swift to feed.

I have a 700 short action with Badger bottom metal and AI mags, but I have not made any dummy rounds to test feeding.

Swift has to be the most difficult round to get to feed. Those mags werent designed for such a tapered case. Gonna take tons of feed lip mods/trial and probably a custom follower made (3d printed would work well). Just lay one on the table and push it from the back and see which direction it wants to go

I went down this Road years ago trying to make a Swift Cartridge Feed in a 10 round DarkEagle magazine on a Savage. Finally just gave up. The Swift Brass
has that Fat case head and refused to cooperate . Although It will feed good in a Factory Rem 700 Varmint with just 3 rounds in the bottom.
Maybe a AK Style Banana Magazine would Work ??
