220 Swift loads

Just yesterday I tried 43, 44, and 45 gr of A2700 in my Ruger 77 Swift with 50 gr WW bullet. 43gr=3850, 44gr=3956, 45gr=4024. 44 and 45 gr loads were getting a little sticky, but it was around 80 degrees. Accuracy was .587 for 43, .889 for 44, and 45 I pulled one for 2.020 but the last 2 went into .416. I quit then but will try the same loads today with 50 gr Vmax. I used 4064 for many years, but may go to A2700 now. 24" Douglas barrel. As always, work up. Barlow

I ended up using Berger 64gr Varmint flat backs and a warm load of H414 seated at .010 off the lands. Very accurate load for this barrel.

39.3 gr. IMR. 4064 210M PRIMER 50 VMAX or 50 NOSLER BT. does very well in my swift. You need to start low and work up to this load

I got a used 220 swift Dougielous barrel 1n12 tw from a guy on here in trade, I loaded some 68 Horn BTHPs it shot those sideways so I got some 55gr Vmax with 40 grains Re 17 and shot a .105 group 1st 5 shots I about chit myself lol, but I changed scopes and off to lala land I went, I love the swift love to shoot it, it just kinda sticks to ya.

6mmsteve....you might want to try some 53 gr. v-max in your swift as they have a bit higher efficiency
for some long range shooting. Then again maybe not...with .105 groups. Good shooting!!!

Shot out several swifts

Rem brass
9 1/2 primer
44g of AA2700, mabe 44.5g
50g Nosler Ballistic tip, 50g Sierra spt
Both bullet shot bug holes at 4000 fps
Short leade chambers, so the bullets were touching the lands.

We got away from IMR 4064 because it ate barrels like shooting battery acid.

When the leade got shot longer, we went to the 55g Sierra semi point, then later on the 63g Sierra, these are super accurate bullets and very, very accurate.

AA2700 will shoot anything out of a Swift very accurately. Any bullet worked on all my Swifts.

My load uses vihtavuori n540 under a 55 grain nosler varmageddon at 4019 fps in a 26 inch tube at about 1/2 minute accuracy

I'll be finishing my 220 Swift by next week and need a good starting load. I have Varget, 4064, 4007SSC and IMR 4320 that have all worked well in my 22-250. It's a 26" Criterion with 12" twist and I will be shooting in the 50 to 60 gr range bullets with a max range of maybe 400 yds. Thanks.

Not an answer to your question but try some H100 with 55 or 60 gr. pills. It may surprise you Tommy Mc
