220 swift 50 grain bt data

I recently got into a 220 swift model 70 never had one before I'm going to try some bullets I have laying around which is 50 grain nosler ballistic tips and 55 Berger's I have been reading 4064 is the way to go but can't find the data for the bts using 4064 powder I have others powders that are listed but was just curious if anyone has run it before

4064 will work great in the Swift with 50 & 55s, I’ve used a bunch of it in mine over the years. Today’s manuals have gotten a little conservative with their recommended charges. Sierra used to list 4064 as the powder in their accuracy loads. You should be able to find an accurate load using it.

Ya that's what I noticed my Berger book list it for my 55s I thought for sure with ballistic tips being popular that it would have been a published combo

Way back, for 52gr, the 4064 load was the speed: 36gr = 3600, 36.5 = 3650, etc. Hornady 9th edition now shows loads going a little faster, e.g. 36.5gr going 3700 (26" 14 twist test barrel).

In a 22-250 and 220 Swift, for the mid weight bullets, RL17 is going to be the king with regard to velocity.

Mine likes 35.3 grs of BLC-2 CCI 200. 53 gr .SMK. 1X8 twist . Fast twist for a Swift but it works. Just ask the many Yotes. that have met it. Tommy Mc

My Swift always like H380, nothing else shot near as good as it. I only shot Hornady Match BTHP 52 gr. Five shot under .500 Ruger MK 2 spotter barrel. And very fur friendly.

1 - 14 twist

Hodgdon shows a MAXIMUM load of 38.4 grains of IMR 4064 for 3,900 fps with 50-grain bullets.
MAXIMUM of 37.5 grains of IMR 4064 for a 55-grain bullet at 3,740 fps.

Both should be reduced to start, of course.
