Many may know this, but you get a ring that builds up in the chamber of the 22LR, it is quite hard, can only be seen with a bore scope. It is just past the case mouth.
When it builds up big enough, it can actually swage down the bullet.
The chamber of you 22 needs a good cleaning at least every 500 rounds, a brush spun by a drill works as do other methods, just keep it out of the rifling.
I like to scrub the chamber and the bore (just not as much) from time to time with JB bore Shine on a patch. Go easy on it in the barrel, but the leade can have more scrubbing done.
You will find an accuracy increase and it stops first shot fliers in many rifles.
Go easy, don't over do, but do keep your chamber clean, you will find it makes a difference.
My Best, John K
