22 PPC Brass Question

Can the 7.62 X 39 case be re-sized to the 22 ppc dementions? Or can the 6ppc be necked down to the 22 ppc? Thirdly does Sako still load the 22 ppc and if so where can one buy.

I would go on the sako sight and check and since the parent case for the ppc was the 7.62-39mm,I dont see why it wouldnt work in stages.Check with redding for forming dies or hornady for their hydroforming die.

First...the Lapua 220 Russian cases are already .22 All that's needed is to blow them out to your chamber. If you neck turn it's a whole other story. George Kelbly does not turn necks on his .220 Russian cases, and shoots as they are. Does quite well too.
If you bring a 6ppc case back doen to a .22, keep in mind that the neck has been turned. ( we all turn ours, as that is what I shoot in BR.
Now then, your chamber neck comes into question. It has to match the neck thickness of your USED ppc cases. I suggest you find out what your rifles neck size is and go from there. You do not want it too sloppy if you are shooting for score.

Buy 220 Russian brass, load the first time with the bullet into the lands, lightly lube the case with Imperial sizing die and go to shooting. The case will fireform to 22 PPC shape and you are off and running. Now if you have a tight neck you need to turn the neck first but a standard chamber this step is not required. Tom
