22 hornet flash hole

I have a bunch of hornady brass that was from factory ammo. The flash hole is too small for my rcbs dies and my Lee dies pin to pop the primer. Does Lee or Rcbs make a small pin or is it just hornady brass and you can’t reuse the factory ammo brass. I have some Hornady brass that I have no problems popping the primer.

I have the same issue. I have one pin that is .056 that fits all my flash holes but I don't know the manufacturer. I've tried to chuck one in a drill and sand it but have yet to get it to size.

FLASHHOLE: Most foreign and many American manufacturers of .22 Hornet brass have small flashholes and use .062” decapping pins, e.g., Hornady (Small .060” #396618), PPU, Sellier & Bellot, etc. Remington brass has Standard American flashholes size of .080” and use large decapping pins (Hornady Large .070” #390222). DO NOT USE Hornady Small-Headed .060” #396326.

RCBS X-Small Pins #9631: Designed to use with undersized flash holes, and have a diameter of .057 inch

Beat me to it. Just looked at midway and 10pk rcbs xsmall is $7.49 I think.

I never had this issue using a Lee collect die. Might be an option.

Lee's (permanent) decapping die pins are .062". Reloaders using Lee collet-based (neck) sizer dies on Lapua .059" flashholes typically sand/grind the pins down.

FYI - Although an extra step, in order to keep my reloading dies clean as possible I use RCBS Universal (.22-.27) and Heavy Duty (.27-.45) decapping dies. For brass having extra small flashholes, e.g., Lapua .059", I use a dedicated universal decapping die with an extra small decapping pin. I demoted a 40-year-old Pacific press to this purpose also.

Thanks guys. I will order some RCBS x/s pins. I have a Lee universal decapping die. The pin that came with it is too small. I did not see where Lee offered a smaller one.
