I just built me a 22 Dasher. It's very flat shooting and going to be hard on the Groundhogs and coyotes!
Rem 700 Trued Short Action
Brux 12T Rem varmint 27.5 inch barrel
PTG reamer .254 Neck .025 freebore

55 gr Nosler Ballistic tips 4045FPS
35 gr of IMR8208 powder
CCI 450 primers

When deer season comes around load up some 60g Nosler Partitions for it! With the high velocity you will get, it will flat anchor a whitetail! My olderst boy has shot a 200 pound 10 pt. and 4 does with his 22-250 with the Noslers over the years. All but one doe fell right there, and it piled up within 20 yards of being hit. I was amazed at the hydrostatic shock and destruction of the chest and organs. I use a 22BR loaded with that bullet now for deer. Slip in a 55g Nos BT if a coyote comes out! Samuel Hall

I have a rifle that feeds short fat cartridges and have been debating what to build, I have a ton 6br brass and already have a 6dasher. This is food for thought.

Sounds like a nice rifle! Plus one on what Hunter said about 60 grain partitions and deer. My daughters used a 220 wifi with that bullet growing up and deer and antelope, complete devastation.
 
3 Groundhogs have met the 22 Dasher so far out of 35 for the season. 380 yards has been the longest shot with the 55 Nosler Ballistic tip going 4045 FPS. 200 yds just makes a mess of them. This cartridge is Amazing!!

I have longed for a 40XBR in .222, just never found the right deal when the funds were available......
 
Phil I was lucky once a few years back and found a 40-XB in .222Magnum
with a 2"Unertl varmint for $800- I about tripped over myself reaching for my wallet to pay for it.If you haven't checked out Bob Whites List,he is probably the best source for 40-X rifles I've seen.Some may need some love or new barrel,but definitely worth a look.
