22 CreedMoor what bullet for Prairie Dogs

Wonder how far out the 53 v max has enough energy to kill a coyote? Maybe 400 ?
I've taken yotes out past 400 with 20 cals. 1 a 32 gr (~4k fps) round 410yrd and 1 a 40 (3660fps) at 420 both vmax. Also a 55 ballistic tip out of swift at just under 3800 at 515. 53 at 4k would be over 500 with decent placement.

I've shot them right at 400 yds with 53gr Vmax in my 223AI and they were actually fireforming loads so it wasn't as if they were super speedy and they dropped dead on the spot but as we all know good shot placement tends to trump most everything else regardless, to a degree, of distance.

I'm pretty sure the O'neill boys or at least James is are using the new 62gr ELD-VT with great success and they stack up about as many coyotes as anyone out there. Not sure about his brother but I believe James is shooting them in a 22-250 so real similar to a 22CM but I'm not sure what twist he/they are using. They have a youtube page "oneillops" they probably have a video where they talk about those new bullets and how they're working for them. I've watched a few of their coyote hunting vids they're pretty good.

Ok thanks fo

75gr ELD 3500 fps or 62gr ELD-VT 3700 FPS 400yds is about maximum distan
IMO, the 50- 53 grain, V-maxes and 50- 55 gr. NBT's,.. pretty much RULE, the Prairies / Deserts, for "explosiveness" and accuracy on, the Smallish Varmints OUT to,.. as far as, you can,.. Hit One.
Gimmee a GOOD / Accurate,.. .22 Cal. Rifle !
If you really like "explosiveness", I wonder if you have tried the 50 Varmint Grenade? BC is not as good, but I have never found a bullet that blows them up like those things. I have shot tens of thousands of the V-Maxes (love those suckers!) - so I don't base that on a few shots.

Using reasonable Velocity ( UNDER 3,550 FPS ) PLUS using, a 50 to 55 grain, .22 cal. Bullet, ALLOWS Me to, See "Impacts" from, a BRAKED, Sub., 8.5 Pound, "Walking Varmint", Rifle And,.. I AIN'T,.. EVER, changing Loads, for IT !!
My Rule #1,.. IF, it AIN'T Broke,.. DON'T Fix, IT !
I've been Buying, 50 Grain, V-Maxes and, 52 gr. ELD-M's, WHEN ever, on Sale !
I'd buy, the Higher BC, 53 grainers,.. IF, my Barrel Twist,.. was, a bit, "Tighter" !
