22 cal.75 amax on pdogs

Has anyone shot the 75gr. 22 cal. amax at pdogs? I'm pushing them to 3170 in a 223 ai. The 80 sierra shoots accurate, but no explosion. The 65 sierra gameking at 3400 through an 8 twist is a BOMB! 52 gr. amax is highly explosive. Just wondering if anyone has exp. with the 75 amax, good accuracy and retained energy, but I haven't shot any dogs yet. Please comment on the explosiveness compared to other bullets. Thanks

I have used the .243 105 amax's on "dawgs" and they have worked quite well....no info on the .22 cal ones ...6br 1 in 8 hart

I have shot 30+ groundhogs with the 75 grain a-max out of a .223 and 22 br. They kill good and have a decent B.C. But I will tell you at a thousand yards the 90 grain plus bullets really excell in the .22 cal. Many of the shots were out to 700 yards and they performed well. Good Luck

We have used both the 80gr Sierra's and 75gr Amax in my son's Krieger barreled Ruger No1 22/250. The Sierra's shoot tight groups without explosive effects on long range Pd's. The Amax bullets shoot slightly larger groups but blow up pretty well to about 400 yards. This barrel is just about shot out and will be replaced with a Lilja 9 twist 204 Ruger after next season.

I've used nothing but 75 Amaxs since rebarreling with an 8 twist Krieger in my .223 . They are not 'extreamly' explosive but they definatly expand the range of a .223 out to 700 yards or so pretty easy. My best is 803 yards.
The front 1/4 to 1/3 of the bullets usually expand very well depending on the range at .223 velocities. The rest of the shank of the bullet stays intact. They are not the best choice if ricochets are a concern. There are also better choices if you usually stay under 400 yards but they are only way to go if you want to reach out there.

I shot them out of my 220 Swift AI and they will pop a dog out to 500 yards. I was pushing them to 3400fps. Wind blowing, who cares, give me the Swift AI!!

I use them religiously in my 28 inch 22/250 AI over H-4350 and they do a very nice lobotomy job on groundhogs out to 450 yards so far.
