22 BR twist

What is the lightest to heaviest bullet weights that a 1:9 twist will stabilize? And what are your suggestions for powder? Remington 700 24" chrome moly barrel. Looking to shoot out to 300 yards for critters and 200 yards for plinking.

69 grain Sierra Matchking will stabilize, some have said they got the Berger 75 vld's to stabilize in 9 twist.

40 to 75 in my experience. AA2015 is my go to powder for the .22BR.

hey guys, thanks for your comments. i will try these bullets, I have a lot of different powders but AA2015 isn't one of them.

IMR 8208 also works great and is very temp stable. Hopefully you have some. Lol.

This is the only powder (IMR 8208XBR) I use in my 22BR, along with the 53 gr. V-max.

I was thinking of using the 52gr - 69gr bullets, I have about 2000 Nosler CC 52gr and a few hundred 69gr Sierra Match Kings and 68gr Hornady Match bullets. The IMR8208XBR, I have less than one pound, its hard to find in my area. I normally shop for powder when I go out of state but I will look for both of these on my next trip out.

Try Benchmark powder. My 22BR is a laser with 50gr. Vmax's.

Will the 9 twist be too fast for the lighter bullets?

I have shot 30's and 40's in a 1:9 22-250. They work fine.

Terry, I have a couple hundred Berger 30's & 40's on hand that I use in my 14T 22-250, I am going to try them in my 9T 223 AI and then my 22BR once it's built.
