9 twist 223

In those conditions you're best bet for a heavy may be the 73 Berger. It will load far enough forward to allow as much as 25 to 25 1/2 grs of Varget and the heel of the bullet right at the neck/shoulder junction, assuming a stock chamber.

But check out the ballistics at the distance you're going to be shooting and then compare to the stupid little 53 V-Max and it's excellent BC. The decision as to which to use may come down to your ability to read the wind more than weight of bullet.

Are you using wind flags?

I worked up a load this morning with a hornady match 68 gr bthp.. re 15 hornady case. Its too windy here to tune it at distance but im close with it.. a 3 hot group at 430 yards.. 12 mph wind from 7 oclock.. group is just under 1/2 moa

Thanks for the input.. i have a bunch of 69 gr. Smk's and tmk's on hand.. but will give one of the 70 class bullets a try sometime..

Unless you have another rifle that you plan to save the 69SMK, I would you have fun burning them up on this rifle before chasing the next bullet. Otherwise, you end up with a crazy bullet collection that don't get loaded and used.
