22 ARC Bolt Action Rifles

I have been trying to find a Ruger American Gen II Predator in 22 ARC and they’re out of stock everywhere I’ve checked. Does anyone know or have heard of when stock numbers are expected to increase? I’m planning on doing a small build with this rifle, including a Magpul stock and trigger replacement and a suppressor.

If you want to build then build and not start with a subpar factory rifle barreled action. Get a Zermatt Origin, barrel of choice and trigger of choice and drop it in the Magpul stock you want. Will end up a 1000 times better.

Douglas just barreled a Howa Mini action for me in 22 ARC. I purchased a 6.5 Grendel barreled action from Brownell's, pulled the barrel and sent it to Douglas, 4 weeks later it's back in my hands.

53 grain Vmax are cruising out at over 3600 fps with extreme accuracy.

Howa will be introducing a 22 ARC in 2025.

I went both ways - Zermatt Origin & Howa Mini - when I decided I wanted to work with the 22 Grinch, which is an improved version of the 22 Grendel. I'd already done a 6 RAT on a Mini action, and am pleased with both cartridges. I have Howa Mini actions in 20 Tactical, 223AI, 22 Grinch, 6 RAT, and 6.5 Grendel, all with Bartlein or Krieger bbls that I've fitted & chambered. Most of them wear stocks from Bell & Carlson, but the 6 RAT has a McMillan Game Scout. The Origin Grinch is in a Manners EH-1, with a Trigger Tech Diamond, and is a sweet little rifle, although it's a fair bit heavier than the Howa Mini Grinch. All the Howas also have either DIP or Jefferson Outdoors aluminum DBM, which is a real improvement over the chintzy plastic units that come from Howa. That's the one thing that disappoints me more than anything - why Howa hasn't upgraded away from the cheap plastic trigger guard/mag well units to aluminum is beyond me. If they want more owner loyalty and really want to sell more of these little actions/rifles, they'd do so.

I’m not trying to get crazy with the money I intended spending on this little project. This will be a varmint/farm rifle. I agree with what you’re saying if I had larger expectations from this. This platform will work just fine for what I had planned.

I get that and if that is all you are wanting to do then go for it but I was just trying to get you a better rifle that will be easier to rebarrel down the road and also be more versatile as you can easily change bolt faces and then you can have any caliber you want down the road also. You can get a Zermatt Origin for $900 and a Northland Shooting Supply Criterion barrel for about $395 and then have more trigger options with the 700 footprint and stock options also. You can get a KRG Bravo chassis for $350. Just a thought but if more than you wanted to spend then stick with your original plan and good luck with the Ruger search. If I see one I will let you know.

I want to build a rifle (bolt) in .22 ARC.
I built an 22ARC upper for a AR15
You’ll like it
Fun cartridge
I haven’t even done real load development
Just got the bullets to the speed I wanted and started blasting steel and critters.

Buy a Howa mini in 22 ARC. You'll be amazed at the quality of the barrel. Play around with it and rebarrel if you like.

Thanks Rob, I appreciate that. From the searches I have done to this point, I may end up changing my original plan due to lack of availability of the Ruger. I was looking at it as a less expensive way to get the cartridge I wanted and to see if I would like it. But the more I read about it, the more I think this would be a fun rifle to have and it could be something my young daughter would enjoy as well. I joined this forum because I really enjoy shooting and wanted to learn more about how to get the most out of my rifles, especially on the accuracy side of things. This is like being in a room full of seasoned gunsmiths :)

There’s some amazing shooters, machinist n gunsmiths here.

Talked with Howa legacy sports yesterday about the 22arc they stated pre order sales through authorized vendors will be seeing rifles in hand middle of February 2025 and then the next big batch will be available through brownells barreled actions only middle March 2025 he did state that starting in February it will only be 22inch barreled rifles and then starting in may 2025 you will be seeing the heavy barreled 20inch rifles start to hit the market so it looks like June or July 2025 the Howa 22arc will be readable available in in 20inch and 22inch rifles

Shame on you!

Yeah, the pull of a good custom (almost semi-custom nowadays) in 22 ARC is strong. Using a Origin or even an Impact is now as easy as putting an AR together and the target will look better.
