22-6mm (.224TTH) load data

If there are any .224TTH reloaders out there could I get a hand with some starting load data? I just picked up a Rem700 chambered in .224TTH. The rifle has a 26" 1-8" twist Lilja #5 heavy sporter barrel. I'm looking to shoot 80gr Berger VLD or SMKs. I have RL22, H4831SC, IMR4350, Varget to work with. Using PPU 6rem brass.
Thanks for the help,
RV

22/6mm Ackley: Always had good accuracy around 50.0-51.0 gr RL 22 and Fed 210 M 80 gr Sierra. 3700 FPS 28” barrel. Max load!. My friend has since switched to RL 23 and dropped load to around 49 gr+/-. Not sure on RL 23 so approach with caution. Speed approximately 3500 FPS.

Good advice. Wonder how the RL26 would be also ? Seems like another great option.

I like H4831SC in my 22-6mm with the 65 grain Sierra gameking and 75 swift sicorro. I mostly use the 65 Sierra because of the short action model 722 it was built on.

Since this is a non improved 22-6, do you think 48.5gr RL22 is a good starting point?

RV-Customs I would think 48.5 gr RL 22 would be more like a Max load. Improving a 6 mm Remington case really increases powder capacity. A lot of body taper is blown out plus going from a 26 degree shoulder to a 40 degree shoulder is a lot of “Improving”. I would start around 45.0 and work up.

Sounds like a good start! Thanks!

I think the Hornady reloading manual has the 22-6mm load data in it. At least the last one I brought did. Lonnie Hummel (sp?) with Hornady was a good resource for that round and shot some matches with it. I talked to him on the phone about best application for a build maybe 20 years ago. IMR 4831 gave me top velocity/accurate combo. Luck, Tim

The Hornady 7th edition includes this cartridge. With the 80 grain A-Max, a starting load of 43.7 grains of RL-22 gives 3100 fps. Max load is 47.1 grains to get 3400 fps.

Of the other powders you mentioned, I would think only H4831SC would be slow enough for 80 grain bullets.
