22-250AI Barrel Life???

I'm shooting 80gr SMK's out of my 22-250AI.....shooting 3360. What kind of barrel life will I see with this setup??

There is wiggle room in there for your requirements or expectations. If your on a Savage action or use a Rem-age barrel nut on a 700 you save the smithing costs and then its not quite as shocking. And of course the downtime is reduced also but you will wrap up $100-$150 on tools and gages. Criterions are around $320 shipped which equals $.32/rd. ;D I think Pac-Nor and Shilen are close to $500 chambered and threaded at your door, $.50/rd. :( I shoot at least 50 rds./wk so that's $25/wk in barrel costs if I shot the .22-250AI! I don't have one but shoot a 14tw .243AI and it is much easier on barrels. ::) ;D

As long as you don't overheat it, you should see about 1500 rounds. Based on 4 personal barrels. Good luck. 8)

Thanks! That's a little more as to what I was looking for.

I smoked one in 400 or less, and I mean bad. But it was a 7 twist and I was hammering on it pretty heavy. But I also had a 9 twist last to almost 2000 rounds when I took care of it and didnt shoot more than a 5 shot string without cooling down. First barrel was steel, second was stainless.
